Come to Carthage and celebrate Winter! There are events from February 8 through February 12. Most all are free of charge. Admission on Saturday is free, and is open to the public.
Wednesday, February 8 – Chowder Cookoff at Carthage VFW – $5 admission charge; Friday, February 10-bonfire at new West Carthage Riverbend Park just off South Main St from 6-8; Friday, February 10 – Ugly Sweater contest at Rooted Drifter Bar and Grille along with wine and beer tastings from 8-10 p.m.; Saturday, February 11 – 11:00 Ladies Frying Pan Skillet toss; Noon: Cardboard Sled Races; 1:00 p.m. Magician; all day events include: dog sled rides, horse and wagon rides, professional face painting, Seek and Find; Scavenger Hunt, displays and food. ALL EVENTS ARE FREE OF CHARGE EXCEPT THE FOOD, THE CHOWDER COOK OFF and the raffles. All day raffle drawing every 15 minutes. Includes children’s raffle. Tickets are only $1.00; Dog Sled 1 hour tour for up to 4 people raffle tickets are $5.00 each. ($400 value)
Saturday evening: Mardi Gras at Carthage Elks Lodge and Valentine Dance at Carthage American Legion; Sunday morning: Pancake breakfast at St. James Church.
