The 15th annual Feb Fest will take over downtown Kingston for the entire month of February stocked full of winter fun for the entire family. FebFest kicks off on Friday February 1st with the opening of the Winter Park in Boucher Park. The park will feature ice slides for children to enjoy on their PA Day built by award-winning ice sculptor and snow carver. Imagination on Ice takes centre stage on Saturday, February 2nd. Kingston favourite Kurt Browning will be headlining the show at 1pm along with up-and-coming local talent. Saturday evening will feature the first of many DJ Skate Nights! On Sunday, cheer on the brave souls who jump into the frigid waters of Lake Ontario in support of the Special Olympics at 11am in Confederation Park –it’s the annual Polar Plunge! Weekend 2 will focus on hockey. First, the annual Carr-Harris Cup takes place at Leon’s Centre on Thursday February 7th–puck drop is at 7:30pm. On Saturday, February 9th, it’s Hockey Day in Kingston with local atom and novice boys and girls taking to the rink. Historic Hockey Tournament will also take place that afternoon with games between Queen’s, RMC and CFB Petawawa, and hockey legend, Leaf Bobby Baun will be on site signing autographs. A special event this year is the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Kingston’s Red Barons–a group of pioneering women’s hockey players. A full day of hockey on the Springer Market Square rink! Weekend 3 is Family Day weekend with activities for everyone to enjoy. The focus will be on curling with opportunities to watch and try for yourself. Check out An Artsy Afternoon on Sunday the 17th in many downtown galleries and businesses. Enjoy all that Feb Fest has to offer –public skating, horse drawn wagon rides, fire pits, beavertails, comfy chairs and more. Weekend 4 will feature other winter activities such as ringette. The 2020 Winona Forest Tourathon promises to once again delight nordic skiers from across the USA and beyond. Our lake effect snow machine, and professional grooming equipment will provide participants with unrivaled nordic conditions. Please don't forget to become a member of our club. This keeps the tourathon alive and well, and allows our volunteers to keep the trails in great condition all winter long. To become a member, please visit Winona Membership Tourathon Apparel is available on skireg until January 30th. Race Day registration is available. 12.5 KM 30$. 25KM $35. 50KM $55. Student category is $20 Please check www.winonaforest.com frequently for directions and event updates. Race Start Time: 8:30 AM for the 50 km distance 9:00 AM for 12.5km and 25 km distances. The ski trails will be maintained regularly throughout the season. Registration/Bib Pick Up: 7:00-8:30 AM Morning of the Event. The 50KM Segment is dedicated in honor of Walter Chapman. The oldest finisher of the 50KM segment will receive the Walter Chapman Award. We will offer post-race food at CCC Camp following the race, including a large variety of delicious, warm offerings, desserts and beverages. AWARDS to be ON SITE at the CCC CAMP. This decision was made to prevent people from having to wait long periods of time to receive their award. WFRA will have a very limited amount of race apparel available the morning of the race. If you'd like us to hold something for you, because you missed the purchase option on skireg, let us know asap. IMPORTANT NOTE: For those skiing the 4 loop (50 km) distance, due to the safety concerns a CUT-OFF time is being imposed. If you do not start your final loop of the event by 1:00 you will be asked to finish down the finishing lane upon arrival at the junction. If you wish to proceed beyond and continue against the Race Officials warnings -your race bib will be removed and you will be disqualified from the race. Thank you for supporting our non-profit organization. Spending time on Winona's ski trails, you are sure to have noticed a significant improvement of ski conditions over the years, on more of a reliable basis. Your contributions help with this. ​Registrations are non-refundable under all circumstances. In the case that we have to cancel this event, we will consider all registrations as a donation to our club. In turn we will return our appreciation in the form of fabulous well-groomed trails for you to enjoy throughout the winter.
