Invasive Species Workshop with TILT and Save The River

Saturday, June 22, 2019

9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join the Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) and Save The River for an Invasive Species workshop on Saturday, June 22nd, from 9am-2pm. Meet at the TILT office for a presentation on TILT’s work in invasive species management by TILT’s Stewardship Director Brandon Hollis, and an iMapInvasives training led by Patricia Shulenburg, Save The River Program Manager. iMapInvasives is an application that citizen scientists and professionals use in the field to manage invasive species, and the training will cover invasive species impacts, identification, and mapping.

Then, participants will take a field trip to one of TILT’s conservation properties to learn how to identify and map invasive species in the field. While in the field, individuals will have an opportunity to participate in a hands on demonstration, showing the proper way to cut and remove invasive plants like pale swallow-wort and purple loosestrife.
