Join the Jefferson Leadership Institute as we Race Against Poverty!
The Race Against Poverty is a Downtown Watertown challenge race patterned after the CBS show “The Amazing Race.” The Race Against Poverty combines challenges that are physical, mental and sometimes even a tad bit silly, which scatters teams of two all over Public Square in an effort to win the Top Prizes! From the starting line at the JB Wise Pavilion, teams are given a clue leading them to another checkpoint and they must successfully complete challenges-following clues until they reach the end of the race. This is a timed event and prizes will be awarded to the 3 fastest teams:
1st Prize: $200 Cash
2nd Prize: $100 Cash
3rd Prize: $50 Cash
Each team cost $50 to participate and team t-shirts will be provided. This is run/walk event.
There will be an after-party after the race for the entire community to attend and for all those not racing the cost to attend is $5. There will be entertainment, food to purchase, beverages, silent auction and more at the after party for the racers and their friends and families.
Purchase your team reservations or tickets to the after party event by visiting our Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/race-against-poverty-tickets-32221828356
The deadline for team registration is April 29th.
The proceeds raised from the Race Against Poverty will go towards “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting’ by World” a program offered by the Community Action Planning Council, the Watertown Urban Mission and The Volunteer Transportation Center. The program is an incredible 16-session program, for individuals willing to participate, that encourages participants to build resources and create a plan for getting out of poverty and “Getting Ahead.”
