“Woman on a Wheel” celebrates the bicycle’s impact on women’s social status in the years before the vote. Hear a brief history of the bicycle before taking a bike ride at the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site. Guest historian Kjirsten Gustavson wears her reproduction 1890s bicycle costume as she presents her program at 10am at the site’s barn.
Jump on your bike to join Ms. Gustavson for a trip around the historic site and along the stone dust trail following the route of the Second Battle of Sackets Harbor, in this, the battle’s 206th anniversary year. Energetic riders may wish to continue their bicycle adventure discovering the historic and scenic sights of the community.
Price is $5 per adult. Children under age 12, no cost. Space is limited on this inaugural trip. Children younger than fourteen years of age must wear a helmet and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
