This past spring, the Sackets Harbor Battlefield SHS sponsored a "readings and discussion" series on a Civil War theme, which encouraged casual discussions among the participants, thus enriching an understanding of our nation's history. This autumn, the battlefield is offering a follow up series which takes place up to where the Civil War topic left off.  The new series will cover the Reconstruction Era postwar legacies, Westward expansion and the Native Americans, early 20th century rise of economic power impact on society, and the United States growing presence in the world.  Our local history will weave in and out of these discussions.  The readings are free hand-outs, short primary documents. Jefferson Community College history instructor Josh Conale guides the discussions with the assistance from JCC's former president and history instructor, John W. Deans. They will occur on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm.  The scheduled dates are September 12, 19, 26. and October 17th. The meetings will take place at the Union Hotel building located at West Main Street in the village of Sackets Harbor.  This is a an ADA accessible building. Space is limited - please sign up by calling the battlefield at 315-646-3634 or email [email protected]

Little Theatre of Watertown presents this hilarious show.  Dinner is included making it the perfect night out. In this hilarious comedic romp, four friends have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their Senior Prom:  to be in each other’s weddings…no matter what.  More than thirty years later, these Southern friends-for-life are still making “the long walk” for each other, determined to honor that vow.  These friends are committed to the notion that careers, waistlines and even marriages may disappear, but real friendships last a lifetime.  Forsaking all others, in sickness and in health, they repeatedly struggle to stage the perfect wedding in spite of fistfights at the altar, runaway brides and the mistake, and unfortunate, release of a flock of white doves on the first day of hunting season. Tickets:  $30 includes show, dinner, tax and tip. Reservations required.

Have you ever wondered about the paranormal presence in Thompson Park? The original Zoo and some of the current structures here were built in the 1920's. Since then, we've had a number of documented deaths (from the unsafe animal interactions of the earlier zoo). Not only that... but we're also rumored to have close proximity to a phenomenon known as the vortex... The time has finally come to have these paranormal presences investigated by a professional. We are inviting a mature audience to join us as we take a walk back in time through the zoo's sorted history to learn what REALLY happened here, and investigate the possibility of what still remains. Tickets are available for purchase at www.nyszoo.org/paratour . This event is for a mature audience only. The paranormal investigation will be real, and is intended for entertainment purposes only. Tour guests can expect a night-time tour of the historic buildings of the zoo as our paranormal investigator offers enlightening and frightening details about the zoo's history. Guests will be brought to the suspected location of a vortex where mysterious events have been documented. Due to the nature of this event, young children are not allowed to attend. Ticket sales are limited. Please book quickly. Two Tours: 7:00pm to 9:00pm/9:30pm to 11:30pm
