A celebration of cross-border friendship at the site of two military battles between them back in the War of 1812. Picturesque Sackets Harbor, New York, with its white picket fences and modern open-air waterfront restaurants celebrates its Canadian neighbors each year during this old fashioned mid-summer celebration. Join in the fun waving U.S. and Canadian flags during the parade before dancing to live music in the pavilion against the Lake Ontario backdrop.

Visitors are treated to throwback events such as an “old time” baseball game and soapbox derby races. It all happens in historic Sackets, which boasts a vibrant and popular battlefield and interpretive buildings plus downtown architecture that dates back to the early 19th century. History buffs can tour historic military cemeteries – with plots dating back to those local battles – as well as the former military barracks property that includes an old stone lookout tower.
