Explore the first National Park established east of the Canadian Rockies. Here rugged shorelines mingle with opulent Gilded Age estates to create and unexpected and enchanting landscape. Navigate or paddle between the park’s 20 islands located between Kingston and Brockville, hike an island or hike one of the three scenic mainland properties. Stay the night in your tent or in an oTENTik by the water. Come discover the Visitor Centre at Mallorytown Landing, which features aquariums and small live animals, a kids activity area, a playground and special exhibits. However you choose to experience the park, this accessible wilderness will foster a lifetime of treasured memories.
A cross between a tent and a rustic cabin, the new Parks Canada oTENTik accommodations provide a camping experience made easy! Fully equipped with beds and mattresses for six people, a table and chairs, lighting, a cellphone charging station and even a charcoal barbeque, all you have to bring is your sleeping bags, dishes and whatever food you’ll need to satisfy your gang’s appetite after a day spent outdoors! Five oTENTik accommodations at Mallorytown Landing are accessible by car and five other are located on Gordon Island (2) and McDonald Island (3) (accessible only by boat) and provide an incredible view of the river.
There’s nothing better than pitching your tent on an island to feel like you’ve reached the ends of the earth. Camp on one of the 61 rustic campsites, spread among several islands. Access the islands by boat. If you don’t have one, take the opportunity to rent a canoe or a kayak, go on a guided kayak trip or take a shuttle to your campsite. Facilities vary from island to island, please visit the park website for information about facilities and services and pick the island best suited to your needs. Now set up your tent, stoke up your fire, and take in thousands of stars while in the Thousand Islands.
More than 21 island areas from Brockville to Kingston in the St. Lawrence River. A range of facilities such as docks, trails, shelters, privies and campsites and oTENTiks, a cross between a tent and cabin, vary from island to island. Access to all National Park islands is by boat only. The park does not offer water transportation. The mainland base area of the park is located at Mallorytown Landing on the 1000 Islands Parkway. The Visitor Centre and exhibits offer a window on the Thousand Islands. Enjoy a leisurely picnic and walk along the nature trail. The “Landing” also offers a good launch ramp, dockage, parking facilities and a place to stay in the oTENTik.
